Leadership Danbury 2020 Open for Enrollment

The Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for Leadership Danbury 2020. For 30 years this elite program has educated over 750 business people, providing in-depth knowledge about the issues and institutions of community significance. The 9-month program, designed to more fully develop the region’s local leadership potential, includes a one-day intensive session each month starting January 23rd through September 9th. Sessions are focused on Education, Healthcare, Business and the Economy, Transportation, our Natural Environment, Culture & the Arts, and the Justice System and are held at related businesses and institutions including Western CT State University, Danbury Hospital, and City Hall. Tours include the Federal Correctional Institution, Danbury Police and Fire Departments, Danbury Museum and Historical Society, Candlewood Lake, Henry Abbott Technical High School and many others.

Leadership Danbury graduates become part of a new community resource capable of directing and participating in important community works, have new insights into specific areas of interest, and have a more current understanding of our community and its future challenges and opportunities. In addition to gaining this wealth of information, participants also gain professional development to develop the leadership skills necessary to ensure their effectiveness for current and future roles.

Leadership Danbury requires a strong commitment and each participant is expected to have the full support from their employer. According to Cynthia Merkle, President & CEO of Union Savings Bank and Chairman of Leadership Danbury, “We find that sound business decisions are made by companies that understand the various economic, social, and political forces impacting their business and its workforce. Leadership Danbury offers excellent opportunities to learn about area business, community interests and developments in an insightful, productive and rewarding manner and better prepares community leaders for future challenges.”
