The City of Danbury Fire Department has announced that it is currently seeking individuals for the position of Entry Level Firefighter.

The mission of the Danbury Fire Department is to “Protect the life, property, and environment of all citizens in the most efficient and safe manner possible.” This mission is accomplished through emergency management, training, and education. Upon being hired, these individuals will participate in all aspects of the fire service including public education, emergency medical response, fire suppression, rescue, and many other emergencies.
In order to be considered for the position, applicants will be asked to take written, psychological, and physical examinations and be interviewed by the Fire Chief. The recruitment schedule will be provided during the orientation session. Applications will be available from July 1 – Sept 1. Requirements for an entry-level fire position include holding a valid CPAT (Candidate Physical Agility Test) and a CT or National EMT certification.
CPAT – The Connecticut Fire Academy is offering a 1-day CPAT session on Friday, July 19th at the CPAT Testing facility in Meriden. This CPAT session is intended for candidates who have already attended previous CPAT orientation and practice sessions.

Requirements for an Entry Level Firefighter Position:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Valid Driver’s License
Valid CPAT (Candidate Physical Agility Test) – Candidates are responsible for maintaining a current CPAT throughout the life of an eligibility list.
Current CT or National Registry EMT Certification – Candidates are responsible for maintaining a valid CT or National Registry EMT Certification throughout the life of an eligibility list.
Tobacco-Free
At least 18 years of age by application closing date
US Citizen or have manifested the intention of becoming a US Citizen
Vision & Hearing: 20/50 Vision in each eye, correctable to 20/20 in each eye and normal hearing without use of a hearing aid or other device.
