Creativity Connects Danbury: Meet Mike Dubovs, DAWS Volunteer, Supports Local Artisans, Nature Lover

Creativity Connects Danbury

What fuels a vibrant, connected and creative community? What makes people feel good about living in Danbury?

When locals share the creativity that they uncover in the nooks and crannies of their community it brings about connectivity and makes us all feel good.

Believe it or not, you discover creativity every day as you walk, shop, work, and play in Danbury.

Creativity connects us.

Meet Mike Dubovs, ABR Lighting business development and training professional, landscape artist.

Is there an organization in Danbury that makes you feel good?

In high school, it made me feel good to be able to be part of the many school sports clubs and booster clubs. I’m also grateful for my time at Western Connecticut State University. In addition, helping fur-babies at Danbury Animal Welfare Society (DAWS) find forever homes always makes me feel good. I’m grateful for Danbury’s vintage car clubs that have remained (even after the closing of Marcus Dairy). Finally, our company, ABR Lighting, donated and installed light fixtures for the flagpole outside of the American Legion, an incredible nonprofit.

Where do you go for inspiration and creativity?

I enjoy the local artisan craft shops and local breweries where I see the creativity and ingenuity of the local people making something they love and sharing it with the community. I find inspiration when I visit Danbury’s wonderful open spaces including Tarrywile Park.

What do you love about your community?

Danbury thrived with Mayor Mark Boughton at the helm! He kept taxes lower than many neighboring towns. Danbury has a local feel brought to life through many amazing events including Taste of Danbury, summer Concerts on the Green, and the amazing Farmers’ Market. And, of course, I love Danbury’s access to our beloved Candlewood lake!
