Creativity Connects Danbury: Meet Ed Nejame

Creativity Connects Danbury

What fuels a vibrant, connected and creative community? What makes people feel good about living in Danbury?

When locals share the creativity that they uncover in the nooks and crannies of their community it brings about connectivity and makes us all feel good.

Believe it or not, you discover creativity every day as you walk, shop, work, and play in Danbury.

Creativity connects us.

Meet Ed Nejame, lifelong Danbury resident, business owner, community advocate.

Is there an organization in town that makes you feel good?

The Danbury Athletic Youth Organization (DAYO) and their efforts in mentoring our city's youth make me proud to be a resident of Danbury. This organization was formed in 1978. DAYO's current president and tireless leader is Nick Kaplanis. DAYO has countless past and current volunteer's that support their youth programs. I appreciate all of the volunteer's efforts in organizing, coaching, and developing team athletics for our community in Flag and Tackle Football, Track and Field, Cheerleading, Basketball, Lacrosse, and T-ball.

This organization touched me personally by teaching life skills that you can never duplicate or take away to my sons and nephew helping to create the adults they are today.

Where do you go for inspiration and creativity?

I am inspired by successful business people including Jim Foley, the owner of Foley's Pump & Plumbing Service and Bill  Stanley of American Asphalt. I reach out to them to discuss the unique processes that they use in operating their businesses.

What do you love about your community?

I love my community because it is home to me. I was born in Danbury. There is not a week that goes by where I don't speak to people who I have known or have been friends with for most of my life. Pre-pandemic, I enjoyed getting together with friends for breakfast on Saturdays at JK’S and meeting them at local sporting events.

Danbury is the largest city in our area yet tight-knit! There are so many longtime residents who are proud of being part of this amazing and historic community!
