Danbury Resident William A. Lopez, 76, has Died

William A. Lopez, 76, of Danbury, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 15, 2021.

Bill was born on September 8, 1944 in Queens, NY; a son of the late William and Mary (Fitzpatrick) Lopez. In his earlier years, Bill attended Notre Dame High School in Fairfield and competed on the Swim Team. He was a lifeguard at Beardsley Park Beach in Bridgeport and served in the CT National Guard from 1962 to 1971. He earned an Associates Degree in Political Science from Southern CT State University in 1964. 

Bill was a retired Insurance Agent having worked in his field for over 50 years. He was an active member of the Lions Clubs of both Fairfield and Danbury and served as President of both clubs. He was honored as a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow and an Ambassador of Sight. Additionally, Bill was the Program Director for the Danbury Lions' Low Vision Center and Support Groups. Bill was a devoted friend of Bill W. for 35 years. 

Bill is survived by his son, William R. Lopez, and his life partner, Roxanne Spadaccino as well as his “Valentine”, Linda Molinaro. In addition, Bill is survived by an Uncle, William Fitzpatrick; a sister, Mary Anne Lopez, and his nieces and nephews; Dominic, Raymond, Kadie and Alexia Jeziorowski, and Mollie McGee. In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Lopez, and his former spouse, Nona Pizzuto Lopez. 

A reception celebrating Bill’s life will take place on Sunday, May 16, 2021, from 2 PM to 6 PM at the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church Hall; 74 Joes Hill Road, Danbury. COVID 19 guidelines must be followed by all in attendance. Interment will take place privately.
