Danbury residents recognized at Honors Program Senior Reception

The Honors Program at Eastern Connecticut State University recognized graduating seniors at its annual Senior Reception on May 13. The event celebrates seniors who have completed their theses projects as part of the Honors Program's graduation requirements.

Among those recognized were:

Ashley Cubberly of Danbury, who majors in Psychology. Cubberly's thesis is titled "Emotional Intelligence and Vocational Personality: How Does Emotional Intelligence Relate to Career Interests in College Students?" Cubberly plans to spend a year volunteering with AmeriCorps before attending graduate school.

Cory Struski of Danbury, who majors in Mathematics. Struski's thesis is titled "Modeling the Dynamics of Blood Pressure in COMSOL." Struski plans to seek employment in a Connecticut school district.

Eastern's competitive Honors Program provides enriching opportunities to intellectually curious and motivated students of all academic interests. The Honors Program admits about 25 students per year. Scholars take five courses as a cohort and live together in Honors Themed Housing.

Each scholar works one-on-one with a faculty mentor in their major discipline on an Honors Thesis, an original piece of research-based scholarship. Students hone their skills in locating and synthesizing academic sources, quantitative and qualitative analysis, problem-solving and written and oral communication.
