Danbury Westerners Dance with the Blues, Secure Second Sraight Win!

DANBURY, CT—The Danbury Westerners won their second straight game 8-6 over the Bristol Blues at Rogers Park on June 12.
A two-out RBI single from left fielder Matt Zaffino gave Danbury [3-4] an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Banks Griffith followed by hitting his first home run of the season to dead center field to make the score 3-0 Danbury.

Bristol [1-6] responded in the top of the fourth when Mark Coley hit a solo home run of his own to cut the Danbury lead to two runs.
The Westerners loaded the bases, and Zach Selinger scored on an error before returning Westy center fielder Justin Jordan hit a two-RBI double that scored Matt Zaffino and Banks Griffith. Then, Danbury shortstop Cam Norgren floated an RBI single to bring home another Westerner and raise their lead to six runs and a 7-1 score.

Bristol left fielder Anthony Galason hit a two-RBI triple off of Danbury relief pitcher Michael Farinelli in the bottom of the fifth to keep Bristol in the game. Blues first baseman Brennen Dorighi also slapped into an RBI groundout to Cam Norgren to change the score to 7-4 Westerners.

Galason continued his historic night with a no-doubt solo home run to left field, giving Bristol a two-run deficit in the top of the seventh. Brennen Dorighi made the ballgame 7-6 Danbury after an RBI double that scored Mark Coley.

Justin Jordan ran home on a passed ball from Bristol reliever Zachary DeVito to give Danbury an insurance run leading to the 8-6 final score.
Michael Farinelli got the win for the Westerners by striking out three in one and a third inning of work. Blues starter Mark Faello earned the Blues loss after he gave up seven runs [three earned] and six hits over three innings.

The Danbury Westerners will have two straight off days before hosting the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks at Rogers Park on June 15 at 6:30 PM. The game will be broadcasted on the NECBL Network.
