Free Drive-Thru Distribution Every Saturday in October from 10 am to 1 pm at Danbury High School
Danbury High’s drive-thru food distribution, hosted by United Way of Western Connecticut and Walnut Hill Community Pantry, provided 60,000 pounds of food to more than 3,000 families during three Saturday events this past September. In total, the drive has distributed 128,000 pounds of food to those in need in just two months.
We are pleased to announce that the food distribution at Danbury High has been extended to all five Saturdays in October, thanks to the availability of produce boxes from Connecticut Foodshare. This food distribution is not limited to Danbury residents. This is a free program. No registration or documentation is required. Walk-ups will also be accepted.
“The number of families and seniors coming to pick up this food has been consistent over August and September, so we’re glad to be able to extend the distribution through October,” said Isabel Almeida, President of United Way of Western Connecticut. “We are so grateful to the community partners and volunteers that are making this possible. It’s a great example of people coming together to address a community need."
