Danbury resident Ross Avery Markey, 29, died unexpectedly, visitation on March 30

Ross Avery Markey, a skilled carpenter and lifelong resident of Danbury, CT, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at the age of 29 while in his home.

Ross is survived by his devoted mother, Yvonne (nee Pope), and stepfather of 20 years, Wayne, Locke, of New Milford, CT; his beloved daughter, Rose Marie Markey, and her mother, Siera Bembry (Danbury, CT); sweet sisters Elizabeth Anne Markey (Arcata, CA) and Abigail Anne Markey (Newtown, CT); and grandmothers Leola Ross (Danbury, CT) and Gloria Markey (Sandy Hook, CT); and his father, Peter Markey (Sandy Hook, CT). Ross is also survived by 24 first cousins, a wealth of Locke, Pope, and Markey aunts and uncles as well as many treasured friends.

Born July 19, 1992, Ross is a graduate of New Milford High School and previously had been a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Local 326.

He enjoyed annual family vacations in Newport, RI, as well as playing flag football and soccer. Ross will be missed deeply by his huge family and many loyal, lifelong friends for his incredibly sensitive heart, unfailing sense of silliness, and pure love of children, especially for his baby girl, Rose Marie. Rose Marie was the love of his life, and Ross couldn’t have been more proud to be her father.

There will be a public visitation on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, from 4 p.m.to 7 p.m. at Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9 Granville Avenue, Danbury, CT 06810.

The family will observe a private memorial.
