Krista Segreti of Danbury Participates in Donning of the Stole Ceremony

Krista M. Segreti of Danbury was among the nearly 60 members of The University of Scranton's class of 2022 who participated in the Jesuit school's Donning of the Stole Ceremony. The ceremony celebrates and honors the accomplishments of members of its class of 2022 from underrepresented identities who received their undergraduate degrees. The purpose of the ceremony, which was a student-led initiative, was to highlight the students' success in overcoming the particular barriers and obstacles faced by students from these groups, particularly students of color, in attaining a higher education.

More than 70 percent of Scranton's class of 2022 Stole recipients made the Dean's List at Scranton. The students honored include a Fulbright scholar, outstanding academic and leadership achievement award recipients, future physicians, physical therapists, engineers and many other highly-successful members of the University's graduating class.

The ceremony, organized by the student committee members and Jose Sanchez, assistant director of the University's Cross Cultural Centers, took place on campus in May as part of Scranton's commencement activities and events.

Segreti earned a bachelor's degree in neuroscience with a minor in biochemistry and a concentration in nutritional studies. A Dean's List student, Segreti is a member of Nu Rho Psi and served as a Relay for Life team captain and event leader. On campus, she participated in intramural volleyball, the Asia Club, the Scranton Neuroscience Society and the Relay for Life. The recipient of a Claver Award and the Loughran-Peters Scholarship, Segreti also served as a calculus tutor for the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence and volunteered at the Leahy Clinic on campus. She interned for the Lackawanna County Mental Health Court.
