New Milford RiverFest is a two day celebration this weekend!

New Milford, CT is excited to be hosting RiverFest 2022! Since 2018 the Town’s Riverfront Revitalization Committee and the Mayor's office have sponsored this annual event. It has grown from a one-day event, attracting 1,500 people to a two-day celebration which last year saw over 6,000 in attendance.

The event will take place Saturday, October 1, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday, October 3, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Young’s Field Park on Young’s Field Road, across from the banks of the Housatonic River in New Milford. This is a rain or shine event.

What is RiverFest?

Throughout New Milford’s history, the Housatonic River and its riverfront have played a key role in residents’ lives. Its restoration and revitalization is the ambitious goal of a long-term plan to enhance our quality of life and the town’s economic vitality. RiverFest is joined by the Greater New Milford Chamber of Commerce and the Corporation for New Milford Economic Development in presenting this celebration of community and a time to gather with friends and family.

Taking place along the banks of Housatonic River, it highlights the riverfront as the heart of our community. Admission is free.

Attractions include: ● Live music and entertainment ● Food trucks and local food vendors ● Beer and Wine Garden ● Arts and crafts vendors ● 5 K River Run ● Children’s Super Hero Race ● Children’s activities ● Bingo ● Mini-Golf ● Corn Hole Competition ● Downtown Historic Trail Walk ● Tours of Native Meadows Preserve

The second New Milford River Run 5K, a New Milford RiverFest event, will take participants along a USATF certified course (CT18028JHP) following the Housatonic River on Young's Field Road to Boardman Road and back on Saturday, October 1.

The course has minimal turns and little elevation change. Come on out and strive for a new personal best while enjoying the beauty and charm of New England on a late fall afternoon (4:30 p.m. start). Walkers are welcome, too. Medals and prizes will be presented on stage at 5:45 p.m. After, grab a bite to eat, listen to live music and enjoy other offerings. iRunCT will provide timing. The Ostomy Foundation is the organizer of the event.

Performance shirts and swag will be given to the first 100 registrants.

This event benefits the Ostomy Foundation, a New Milford 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that mentors, educates, supports and empowers ostomates of all diversions, as well as offers services and guidance to family members, caregivers and members of the medical community.
