Services planned for longtime and active member of the Danbury community, John G. Plecity Sr., 96

John G. Plecity Sr., 96, of Danbury, husband of Marie (Kroha) Plecity, died on Monday evening, March 27, 2023, at his home.

Mr. Plecity was born in Danbury, on July 13, 1926,  he attended Danbury schools and graduated from Danbury High School in the Class of 1944.

Mr. Plecity enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp serving with the 305th Bomb Group of the 22nd Bomb Squadron in England and Germany.   He was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal.

After being discharged, he worked various jobs before finding a position with  Holman, Inc. of Danbury where he eventually became the owner.

Locally, Mr. Plecity served the Danbury community in many capacities; most especially as chairman of the zoning board of appeals (ZBA).

He was a member and past president of the Lions Club of Danbury and a lifelong member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son John Plecity Jr, two daughters Linda Plecity (husband Bruce Kraemer) and Heidi Griffiths, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Danbury.

Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury with military honors.

There will be no calling hours.

John was a great man, husband, father, grandfather, and uncle.  He will be sorely missed.
