Danbury Library Announces its new Musical Maker-in Residence

The month of June will bring a series of music production workshops to the Danbury Library.  Aimed at teens and adults, this series will welcome the Library’s newest Maker-In-Residence, Andrew Kraemer, a local Danbury artist and musician.

Beginning on Monday, June 18 from 4:30-6pm, Mr. Kraemer will begin “A Voyage into Sound” four-part workshop series in the Library's Audio Recording Studio. The remaining dates will be June 20, 25 and 27.  Open to teens and adults, this series will take participants on a journey through different guitar effects, looping, ambient song crafting as well as recording using Logic Pro X.  Students who have an interest in home-based recording and creating ambient textures and songs will learn to create sonic textures with guitar pedals, guitars and lap steel instruments, how to play over loops and record and layer songs using Logic Pro.

The series is free and due to limited seating, requires registration.  Participants must be able to attend all four sessions.  Registration can be completed online at danburylibrary.org or by calling 203.797.4505 ext. 7726.

“Andrew brings a joy of making and performing music to the library,” explained Aurelio Muraca, Technology Program Coordinator at the Danbury Library. “Not only does he love to perform; he loves to share his passion for the craft of making music with others.”

The role of the Library’s Maker-in-Residence is to create with the help of community influence. This influence will come from library patrons, staff, and community members. They will be involved through active participation in the creation of a project, artwork, presentation, or performance, or by helping to shape their creation through an exchange of ideas.

The Danbury Library is located at 170 Main Street in Danbury, CT.

For more information, contact Aurelio Muraca at amuraca@danburylibrary.org or call 203-797-4505, ext. 7726.
