Celebrating Veterans Day at the Danbury Farmers' Market

“Celebrating Veterans Day” at the Danbury Farmers’ Market

Join Veterans Affairs Commissioner Tom Saadi on August 18, 2018 on the CityCenter Green.

On Saturday August 18th Thomas Saadi, Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs, will be a special guest at the CityCenter Danbury Farmers’ Market for “Celebrating Veterans Day”. The ceremony is scheduled to start 11:00am on the CityCenter Green. Commissioner Saadi has previously served as Acting Commissioner of the Department since October 2017, and in prior roles has served as Chief of Staff and General Counsel for the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Ron Agard, a U.S. Army veteran and now Danbury Farmers’ Market Community Collaborative’s veterans’ community outreach coordinator, has invited many veterans service organizations to attend this week’s market. These organizations will provide more information about their many programs catered towards veterans.

Veterans with a valid ID who attend the market are given a $15 dollar Veggies for Vets market certificate that can be used towards purchasing fresh produce. CityCenter welcomes veterans from the community to attend the market on Saturday August 18th for this special day recognizing all that they have done for our country.

The Farmers’ Market strives to provide fresh and local produce for the entire community to enjoy. The Veggies for Vets program has been funded by the Fairfield County Community Foundation and Farm Credit East to help provide better access for the veterans in the Danbury community to healthy and fresh food.

Additional programs on August 18th include nutrition and food demos at 10:30am and noon, reiki at 10:00am, and all the other match programs that are regularly available each week: SNAP, FMNP/WIC Seniors.

The CityCenter Danbury Farmers’ Market runs every Saturday from 10am-pm2 at the CityCenter Green.  Complimentary parking for the Farmers’ Market is provided by the Danbury Parking Authority at the Patriot Garage right next to the Green.
