Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT 21 Lake Restaurant & Bar!

Three questions with Scott Do Vale, Director of Food and Beverage at 21 Lake Restaurant & Bar.

Bestselling product or service?

While we are extremely proud of our food and beverage offerings, it’s our people that stand out. Attentive, gracious and thoughtful are adjectives we hear about our team; these attributes are what separates us from other area restaurants.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

Throughout the course of the year several local farms, breweries, distilleries, and wineries will show up on our menus. We use Danbury’s Charter Oak Brewery and Stratford’s Two Roads Brewery, Hopkins Vineyard, Litchfield Distillery and The Farmer’s Cow Dairy Farm, to name a few. We also rely on several farms throughout the state of Connecticut.

How many people do you employ? Any youth or seniors from the community?

In our restaurant and bar, we employee approximately 20 associates. We recruit Western Connecticut State University students along with local culinary schools to help support our efforts.

21 Lake Restaurant & Bar is located at The Ethan Allen Hotel, 21 Lake Ave Extension in Danbury. Visit the restaurant online here.
