Danbury Music Centre Announces Spring Season of Charles Ives Concert Series

The Danbury Music Centre is pleased to announce the Charles Ives Concert Series spring season, which will complete its second full season. The Series, which will present four concerts, is dedicated to celebrating the legacy of Danbury's own Charles Ives with performances of his music, today's American music, and music that transcends the traditional boundaries of classical music to incorporate other styles. The Series is led by artistic director Paul Frucht and associate artistic director, Jon Cziner, both of whom are composers. Dr. Frucht a recent Juilliard graduate and Danbury native, is also the Centre's new associate director, artistic planning and program development.

The spring season begins with a program called 'American Violin Sonatas' on Saturday, March 9th at 7:30 PM at the Danbury Music Centre's Marian Anderson Recital Hall, which features two nationally-renowned musicians, violinist Rachel Lee Priday and pianist Conor Hanick. The Series renews its partnership with Congregation Shir Shalom in Ridgefield, presenting an afternoon of 'Music by Jewish Composers' on March 31st at 4:00 PM, featuring violinist Avi Nagin, cellist Julian Schwarz, and pianist Marika Bournaki, all of whom are both familiar faces on the Ives Series and nationally recognized chamber musicians and soloists in their own rite. On May 13th, the Ives Series will, for the first time, present a concert in New York City, in an effort to bring Danbury's iconic composer's legacy further out into the tristate area. The programed, entitled 'The Ives Series in NY: Charles Ives and His Living Legacy,' will take place at 7:30 PM at Peter Norton Symphony Space's Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre. The program even will feature Ives Series Artist-Faculty performing works by Ives, the series two artistic directors - Frucht and Cziner, 2019 Composer-in-Residence Robert Paterson, and Nina C. Young and Justin Dello Joio, two previous composers-in-residence. The spring season closes on June 2nd at 4:00 PM at Congregation Shir Shalom with concert featuring Dallas Symphony Orchestra Principal Harpist, Emily Levin
