Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story.

You're IT Ergo Chef!

Three questions with Mike Staib, VP of Ergo Chef.

Why did you start your business?

Ergo Chef began with the need for an ergonomic chef knife for president Scott Staib.  A few ergonomic designs and three years of testing and we had a knife that 90% of testers wanted, and most importantly, a knife that helped them cut with less effort, less strain and more comfort.  Basically, we successfully designed a more natural and comfortable chef knife. From there, we got into gadgets, knife-edge guards and kitchen electrics. During the past 17 years, we've had the pleasure of working with top celebrity chefs like Guy Fieri, Michael Symon, Tony Luke, and Ben Robinson.

Finish this sentence in regard to your business. “I wish I could…”

I wish I could tell the world about our Chef Knife design and help more home cooks and chefs enjoy their meal prep work.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

Yes! We rely on Mack Media, Vision Designs, and Signarama to operate our business!
