West Lane Riding: Ride, Train, Attend Summer Camp!

West Lane Riding is an equestrian gem that is owned and operated by native Ridgefielder, Heather Gnewuch who has over 30 years of training experience and has been riding since the tender age of five. A Ridgefield Public School grad, Gnewuch named her riding school after her beloved Ridgefield home on West Lane.

I had the opportunity to interview Gnewuch about West Lane Riding which she described as a place with “something for everyone.”

Built in 2014, West Lane Riding’s personalized, small classes are what make this equestrian school and summer camp a stand-out. “We are not a lesson factory,” said Gnewuch. West Lane Riding’s large state of the art indoor ring allows for instruction and practice twelve months a year.

The trainers at West Lane Riding realize that not everyone wants to make a long term commitment and that there are those who only want to learn how to ride. “We can service the first time rider who has never ridden before and we have clients and horses that compete at a national level,” said Gnewuch who told me that the skilled trainers understand that their clients have different goals and some may not desire to move up to the higher levels.

In addition to training and summer camp, West Lane Riding offers purchasing and leasing options for horses. Those horses who take residence at West Lane are cared for with a full team of groomers and a professional barn manager.

West Lane is currently running summer camp programs for children interested in horse riding. Summer camp at West Lane Riding kicks off on June 24 and runs through August 9. Weekly sessions take place from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Please see available weeks below.
