Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT, Arthur Murray!

Three questions with Andy Cabell, owner of Arthur Murray of Danbury.

Why did you start your business?

I actually took over the business from the previous owner. Arthur Murray of Danbury has been on Main Street since 1979. I decided to continue this business because I love what social dancing does for people and for the community. We need more dancing in this area, and I hope to help promote the wonderful things that social dancing can do for people's lives, including better physical and mental health, a sense of connection, and a new hobby for couples or single people.

Finish this sentence in regard to your business. “I wish I could…”

Let people know that they don't need a partner to start dancing and that it's so much easier than they think it is, even if you "have two left feet!"

What is your best selling product/service?

Our personal dance lessons where clients work with an instructor, either by themselves or as a couple. These lessons are personalized to you, what dances you want to learn and what goals you want to achieve with your dancing. We work at your pace and with your interests and we have had clients who have stayed for five, ten or even fifteen years!
