Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Grain & Steel Contracting!

Three questions with Robin Blair, founder of Grain & Steel Contracting.

Why did you start your business?

I was a contractor for 30 years and thought I'd try my hand at some other things for a while but ended up coming back to it! It's my true passion.

What is your best selling product/service?

It varies, but all things wood! Built-in woodworking, custom dining and conference tables.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services), and can you name them?

Yes, we use Harbor Freight, Ridgefield Supply, Home Depot, Chase Bank.

We would like to nominate Noah's Ark animal hospital. Our cat was very sick and they kept him for a week and took great care of him. He is now SO happy and healthy!
