Public access to all islands owned by FirstLight Power on Candlewood Lake will be temporarily closed, effective August 1, as a precaution to control the spread of COVID-19.

FirstLight is closing the islands at the request of local public officials and the Candlewood Lake Authority to keep lake visitors safe. "We will reopen the islands as soon as it is safe to do so," states FirstLight.

Islands that will be closed include Sand Island, Blueberry Island, Skeleton Island, Skull Island, Oak Island, City Island, and 2 unnamed islands off of Dike Point Park.
