Why Small Businesses Matter Reimagined

Small businesses matter - now more than ever. They are answering the call with innovation and determination like never before.

We hope you join us in supporting them by sharing their story far and wide and shopping local! We are thankful to Fairfield County Bank for their continued support and making this series possible.

Step inside Weenie Lynn's!

Three questions with Lynn and Michael Negron, founders of Weenie Lynn's.

What do you want the community to know?

As a part-time small business owner based in Danbury, Weenie Lynn's and family have done our best in supporting local businesses in our area, and we encourage our fellow Danburians to shop and buy local for themselves and as gifts for friends and family. In doing so, you help struggling businesses cover costs, help them to feed their families/make ends meet, keep employees on a payroll, enhances the local economy, and give the business a sense of relevance and value while nurturing your community during this time of restrictions. For many small businesses, it's not about profit during this tumultuous time but rather about not going under. Anything anyone can do to support a local business not only benefits that business but also the overall well-being of our community especially now with the holidays upon us.

Are there ways for the community to help you and other local businesses to prosper?

Weenie Lynn's operated on a limited schedule from June through October this year. We were thrilled to have our regulars and fans follow us from event to event and to meet new customers and make new friends. The support has been wonderful and deeply appreciated, and, yes, we will be back in 2021 with our newly-wrapped food trailer and additional Specials for carnivores and vegetarians. We encourage everyone to shop locally and to follow all proper health and safety protocols so we all can move forward to a closer sense of normalcy next year!

Please share the ways your business is adapting to keep your customers and employees safe in addition to the standard guidelines.

Being a full-service food trailer, Weenie Lynn's registered with the State of CT as a food service business acknowledging we are aware of the safety protocols we must adhere to. We have posted large signs requiring face masks to be worn at our food trailer and that 6' social distancing be adhered to when at our food trailer. We are a family-owned business, and as such, only family members of the same household are working in the trailer, myself, my husband, and one daughter when the event requires extra help. Service window employees wear face masks and wash hands regularly and apply sanitizer as do I when cooking (changing gloves several times per hour). Our exterior and interior serving counters are disinfected regularly to assure our customers of cleanliness and of our awareness of safety protocols.

We have also added a touchless hand-sanitizer station near our service window for all customers to use, and, for additional public safety there we have eliminated our well-dressed bar-height tables to linger. We no longer allow our customers to self-administer condiments to any food item (individual packets, etc. are put on the serving plate within the food truck).

Additionally, we offer a contactless payment option for our customers. Customer safety and food safety have always been paramount at Weenie Lynn's, and we look forward to being back out for our 11th year hopefully beginning in April 2021.
