Earlier this month, the Ellen Levy Animal Control Facility celebrated its new home at 23 Plumtrees Road in Danbury with a ribbon cutting! The new, state of the art building was made possible by the generosity of the late Ellen Levy and Councilman Warren Levy.
The City of Danbury said, "This new facility provides a safe and warm place for our furry friends while they wait to be adopted! Thank you to our Public Works Department and to our Animal Control staff who worked together to create the space with the dogs in mind! We thank the late Ellen Levy and Councilman Warren Levy for their generous $300,000 donation to this building."

The Animal Control Division is an arm of Police Operations tasked with enforcing state and local ordinances regarding domestic animals. Animal Control Officers investigate reports of animal bites, animal nuisance, roaming dogs, and other animal-related complaints including animal cruelty complaints, caring for sick and injured animals, impounding lost/found domestic animals and managing the Animal Control Facility. During off-hours, Danbury Police Officers will respond to animal complaints, take pertinent information and forward the complaint information to Animal Control Officers for follow up.
