Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT LouAnn Daprato, Homestead Funding Corp.!

Four questions with Louann Daprato, a mortgage loan officer at Homestead Funding Corp.

Why did you start your business?

I am an intrapreneur which means I work for myself within a company. I started in mortgages in 1990! I had my own mortgage company for about eight years but when the crash came in 2008, we did not pay attention and did not prepare for all of the changes to mortgage guidelines. Lots of lessons learned!

What is your best-selling product/service?

I offer expert advice on mortgages. Thirty-year fixed rates with a range of down payments options are available.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

I utilize attorneys, realtors, plumbers, electricians, home inspectors, and a host of others.

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

I think we all do every day. Things are always fluid so always need to pivot.  Every day I look for opportunities to serve the community and my clients.
