Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Chad's Tree Service!

Four questions with the founder of Chad's Tree Service.

Why did you start your business?

I started my business part-time in 2016 when I was working part-time for the Town of Brookfield. In 2019, I began running my business full-time on my own.

What is your best-selling product/service?

Primarily, I do tree removal and clearing but I also offer other outdoor services such as excavation.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

Whenever I have the opportunity to use local companies for my business, I do. I want to support my community as my community supports me. I get all my shirts and signs made at Images Unlimited. I use Designs & Signs for truck lettering and tinting. I always get lunch/breakfast locally for myself and anyone working with me, usually at Johanas, Midway Market, JoJos, or Primos. I also go to the farmers' market and buy local groceries from Northville Market or Kimberly Farm.

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

I don’t think I have reimagined my small business entirely, but it has definitely grown and adapted in ways that I didn’t first anticipate and I am so thankful to my community and customers across New Milford and surrounding towns.
