Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

Three questions with Caitlin Lucian, owner of Strength and Grace Boutique.
What is your best-selling product/service?
Our store stands out because we offer such a large variety of items - and our stock is always changing. We get new arrivals every week - clothing, accessories, gifts, bags, jewelry, and more. We sell out of items quickly- and rarely restock to keep our items unique and owned by a few!
Most recently, our neoprene totes and crossbody bags have been a huge seller - both in-store and online.
How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?
We love supporting other local businesses and local makers. Currently, we offer 83 Main Candles - hand-poured right here in Newtown. We offer mason jar candles, dough bowls, matches, candle tumblers, and car diffusers.
Sassy Gator Skin Care is a locally made skincare composed of natural products. Some of our stock includes sugar scrub, hand salve, body polish, body whip, and lip balm. These products change seasonally! NK Doodles, a Ridgefield-based business, stocks our greeting cards with unique hand-drawn pieces. Each piece is so detailed. Our shoppers love them!
Have you "reimagined" your small business?
We are always evolving! The work of a small business owner is never complete. We started as an online-only business based out of a basement and grew into our storefront in January of 2019. Two years later, we added a warehouse to help meet the needs of our business - and we have other new things coming down the pipeline for 2022. It's going to be amazing!
