Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You’re IT Blazer Pub!

The Blazer Pub, located just over the border in North Salem, is a comfort food destination known widely for their outstanding burgers, chili, mouth-watering Reuben sandwiches, and their Cream of Tomato Bacon soup. They are celebrating 50 years in their North Salem location!

Four questions with Blazer Pub owner and Ridgefield resident, Alice O'Leary Kerrigan.

Why did you start your business?

The Blazer Pub was established in 1971 and it has been owned by The O'Leary family since 1988. Upon my arrival in 1993,  I have continued to grow an already well-established local pub. We are celebrating 50 years in North Salem, NY.

What is your best-selling product/service?

Best selling items.....burgers, chicken wings, chili, soup, fries.... all made in-house without a microwave, freezer, or heat lamps.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

Fairfield County Bank

Dandy Food Distributors, Danbury

Omaha Beef, Danbury

Better Wells, South Salem

Atlantic Beverage, South Salem

Captain Lawrence Brewery, Elmsford, NY

Campanella Fence, Mahopac

Marshall Oil, Pound Ridge

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

Approval from the Town of North Salem to add outside seating has been exceptionally beneficial and our already strong To Go business has increased significantly. This has allowed us to increase our very exceptional loyal, Blazer staff.

Blazer Pub is located at 440 Route 22, North Salem.
