Danbury Public Schools has been recognized as a 2021 “Best Communities for Music Education School District”

For the third year in a row, Danbury Public Schools has been recognized as a 2021 “Best Communities for Music Education School District” for its commitment to and support of music education.

The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) recently released a list of 686 school districts nationwide, recognized as 2021 Best Communities for Music Education.

Danbury was one of 23 districts in Connecticut to receive this distinction. “Music education is part of a well-rounded learning experience, and it is also one of the first programs to suffer from budget cuts. We are fortunate that we have community partners whose generosity will continue to improve our students’ lives for years to come,” said Superintendent Kevin Walston. “Jill Russell-Benner, the DPS K-8 music department head, has made it her mission to ensure that music education remains a significant part of the curriculum.”
