Danbury Public Schools and Offices Closed Thursday and Friday

Danbury Public Schools announced on their website that both the schools and offices will be closed on Thursday, January 6th and Friday, January 7th.

According to the Danbury NewsTimes, the school closure is due to COVID-19 related challenges and staffing and transportation issues. While the original plan communicated to the school community by School Superintendent Kevin Walston was a delayed opening for the remainder of the week, that changed last night.

Walston said and the NewsTimes reported, “As mentioned in previous emails, we continue to struggle with staffing in all areas,” Walston said in a memo to parents. “As a result, we will not be able to run our schools safely on Thursday, January 6, and Friday, January 7. Danbury Schools will be closed for these two days. We plan to open the following week anticipating improved staffing.”
