Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Opals Kitchen!

Three questions with Andre Davis, founder of Opals Kitchen.

Why did you start your business?

I started my catering business because I love food and the peace it brings me when I’m in the kitchen. I knew it was the right thing for me to do.

What is your best-selling product/service?

I would have to say my honey-glazed chicken mac and cheese and the oxtail. But really, our customers love everything!

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

My business is still in its infancy stage and I imagine myself teaching cooking classes to kids or adults and owning a chains stores and restaurants.
