Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You’re IT Pink Lemon!

Three questions with Leila A Roxo, owner and founder of Pink Lemon.

Why did you start your business?

My goal was to bring a small shop experience to the heart of City Center in downtown Danbury, I want to offer a fun and friendly shopping experience to everyone that walks through my door. At Pink Lemon, you’ll find everything from fun hostess gifts, to glamorous jewelry pieces that are sure to brighten your day and while doing all of that I wanted to support women-owned companies because I believe that we can all help each other.

What is your best-selling product/service?

Fashion jewelry. Accessories are always an easy way to dress up or down any outfit.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business and can you name them?

I use Habitat for Humanity ReStore for furniture, I just LOVE them! I used economy signs for my building sign, John M. Glover Agency for all my insurance needs and I hope to add to this list as I do want to support all the amazing local businesses that Danbury has to offer. I would love to add products from local businesses to my shop but I have not come across anything yet.

Leila nominates Capers Deli to be featured next "because their food is amazing and the staff is so friendly!"
