Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Persnickety Promotions!

Four questions with Denise Buzy-Pucheu, founder of Persnickety Promotions.

Why did you start your business?

Back in the late 1980’s I had a friend whose mom owned a company called Meant to Be Ltd in Westchester County. She worked with several large corporations in branded material. I worked for her for a while and called on such clients as General Foods, Biersdorf, Gaines Dog food, and Pilot Pen to name just a few.

I decided to get back into the industry in 2007 when my husband and I moved to CT and create Persnickety Promotions along with another consulting business I had. I always loved the creativity and helping clients expand their reach by creating branded programs.

What is your best-selling product/service?

We create a lot of branded apparel. Just recently we did several Peter Millar embroidered shirts for a golf outing, we do spirit wear for schools, and drinkware is popular as well. What we like to do is sit down with clients and find out their needs and create multiple branded items to suit the occasion, function, or purpose of their promotions.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

We do use a couple of manufacturers that are Connecticut and Boston-based industry-only manufacturers that we use that are awesome and they also save our clients money in freight and shipping time.

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

I am always reimagining and promoting my business. We grow annually and always can keep working with our long-standing clients and gain new ones. This year in 2022 we won the Promotional Products International Association Award for an Educational Program we did with the Unquowa School in Fairfield.

Denise would like to nominate Barre BoutiqueStrength and Grace BoutiqueIndigo Jane Boutique, Lisa Minnelli Dance StudioBlue Nails, and The Persnickety Bride (her other company) to be featured next!
