Danbury Legislators Talk CT Issues

State Reps. Michael Ferguson (R-138), Will Duff (R-2), Stephen Harding (R-107) and State Senator Michael McLachlan (R-24) hosted an informative pre-session legislative update on Monday night to discuss the upcoming General Assembly session which begins on February 7^th.

Monday night’s pre-session town hall-style meeting provided the Danbury community with an open forum to freely ask questions to their elected lawmakers. The Danbury legislators talked about the state of Connecticut’s budget and how the current economic climate in the state needs to change and stop the chasing away businesses and state taxpayers.

“These discussions allow us to show taxpayers how we are fighting for them in Hartford.  We will continue to push for an end to more and more taxation as the answer and instead fight for policies which improve the quality of life here in Danbury,” said Rep. Will Duff. “Many thanks to everyone who came out tonight! I heard you loud and clear and will continue to work tirelessly on your behalf at the State Capitol.”

"On the budget, we need to govern by holding the line on taxes and spending and show true leadership and courage,” said Rep. Michael Ferguson. “The General Assembly needs to delicately balance our government’s role in providing a safety net for our most vulnerable against the obligation to reduce the financial burden on the taxpayers and businesses in our state.”

"It was great to hear from our constituents on Monday evening and to address their questions and concerns,” Rep. Harding said. “They all deserve a prosperous and fiscally responsible Connecticut and I look forward to continuing to be their voice in Hartford."

“I appreciate the insight this event provided about what issues really are important to the residents of Danbury,” Sen. McLachlan said. “We will certainly look into issues like government inefficiency at the DOT; the high energy costs Connecticut residents pay, and state employee pensions and compensation. State government must become more nimble, more efficient, and less expensive. High taxes and the high costs of living are driving people out of Connecticut and the legislature must take action to stop it.”
