Danbury Health and Human Services Department Testing the City’s Emergency Preparedness Medical Countermeasures while Providing Free Flu Vaccinations

The City of Danbury Health and Human Services Department will be conducting a city-wide Emergency Preparedness Medical Countermeasures (MCM) Exercise during a Flu Clinic sponsored by the City of Danbury.

This clinic is free and open to the public. It will take place on Saturday, October 5, 2019, between the hours of 9:30 AM and 1:00 PM at Rogers Park Middle School. The Health and Human Services Department will provide flu vaccinations to all Danbury residents and volunteers.

In the event of an actual public health emergency, it may be necessary for the Department of Health and Human Services to activate points of dispensing (PODs) to distribute large amounts of vaccinations, antibiotics, and other medicines to a large number of people. A mass dispensing and MCM event would be a public health emergency in which these PODs would be activated.

This exercise will practice the City of Danbury’s coordination and response to this type of emergency and will include responders from the Fire Department, Police Department, and EMS along with volunteer staff from non-governmental organizations.
