Republican Dean Esposito is Danbury's Next Mayor

City of Danbury's Republican candidate Dean Esposito won the City of Danbury's mayoral seat beating out opponent Roberto Alves in a tight race. According to the Newstimes, Esposito defeated Democrat Roberto Alves by a 171-vote margin, the closest mayoral race in two decades.

Esposito remarked on social media, "I'm honored to be elected the next Mayor of the City of Danbury. Thank you to Councilman Roberto Alves for a spirited campaign and thank you to the voters of our great city. Together, we will continue Danbury's success as the shining star in Connecticut."

Esposito has called Danbury home for his entire life. A 1979 graduate of Danbury High School, the Mayor-elect served as City Councilman for five terms, was appointed Town Clerk in 2003, and in 2005 he was the Democratic nominee for Mayor. In 2006, Mayor Boughton named Dean as the Director of Consumer Protection and Sealer of Weights. Dean was then appointed to the position of Community Services Coordinator for the Boughton Administration and ultimately promoted to Chief of Staff.
