City of Danbury Education Bond Referendum Results

City of Danbury Education Bond Referendum passes with a final vote count of 2641 in favor and 433 against.

Last night, Tuesday, June 7, Mayor Dean Esposito released the following statement following the results of the Education Bond Referendum:

Today is a great day for the City of Danbury and the future of the Danbury Public Schools. Once again, Danbury demonstrates it is the shining star of the State of Connecticut as it will be the first city or town in the state with a “Career Academy” focused curriculum. This new educational model will be district-wide and will revolutionize our education system broadening opportunities for all Danbury students.

Since my first day in office as your Mayor, my main focus has been on the educational priorities of our students and families. The Career Academy, as well as the additional improvements and advancements in this bond, will help generations of Danbury children succeed. I want to thank Superintendent Kevin Walston for his partnership and support during this entire process as well as State Representative David Arconti and our entire state delegation for securing the 80% reimbursement rate on eligible costs. This win is a win for our entire city, and I am so honored by the overwhelming support that the residents have shown for our children.

The Danbury Career Academy Model will contain six academies including:

• Emerging Technologies, and Entrepreneurship

• Scientific Innovation and Medicine

• Information and Cyber Security

• Professional and Public Service

• Art, Engineering and Design

• Communication and Design
