This Week in the City, I'm joined by Superintendent of Danbury Public Schools, Kevin Walston, to discuss the fully funded education budget for Fiscal Year 2023-2024.
Fully funding the Board of Education’s budget request of $150 million dollars gives our administrators, teachers, and students the resources they need to be successful.
These funds will allow the Danbury Public School system to be a 1:1 device district and to hire 37.5 new full-time employees including high school teachers, safety advocates, and additional staff to help our bilingual students learn English.
Fully funding education will also allow us to build out the Academies of Danbury and create a wall-to-wall district-wide career pathways curriculum to fundamentally transform education and set the model for the rest of the State of Connecticut to follow in the future.
