On December 27 at approximately 2:00pm, CT State Police were dispatched to the Wooster Mountain Shooting Range, located at 74 Sugar Hollow Road in Danbury. The manager of the state operated facility reported that there was an intoxicated party (later identified as 38 year old Patrick Straub of Danbury). Management reported that the party was possibly under the influence of alcohol and was in possession of firearms.
Upon arrival, State Police Trooper James King observed over thirty people at the Range, including children.
"I spoke to a witness who stated he observed Straub having trouble balancing and smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from this person," reported King.
"I escorted Straub to the front parking lot away from the public and the gunfire of the range and conducted Standardized Field Sobriety Tests," said King.
Straub failed the sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for Illegal Carrying of A Firearm While Under the Influence of Alcohol and Breach of Peace. After posting a $5,000 non surety bond, Straub was released and is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on January 15.
