Police Arrest Danbury Man for Possession of Narcotics & DWI

On September 16, 2017, the New York State Police arrested Alvaro Matias, age 27, of Danbury, CT, for Possession of Narcotics and Driving While Intoxicated.  On State Route 6 in the Town of Southeast Troopers observed a vehicle moving from its designated lane unsafely and crossing hazardous markings.  Troopers initiated a vehicle and traffic stop and during the interview of the operator Matias, they observed what appeared to be crack cocaine in the vehicle.  

Continued investigation found that Matias was intoxicated and in possession of 15 small bags of crack cocaine as well as 17 small bags of cocaine.  Matias was placed under arrest for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree with Intent to Sell a Class B Felony, Driving While Intoxicated a Misdemeanor, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree a Misdemeanor.

Matias was arraigned at the Town of Southeast Justice Court and remanded to Putnam County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 property bond.  If waived, Matias is next scheduled to appear before the Town of Southeast Justice Court on September 19, 2017 at 1:30PM.
