Adult Male Holding Knives Shot by Danbury Police Officer

At approximately 10:45 am this morning, Wednesday, July 3, an adult male, armed with 2 large knives, was shot by a Danbury Police Officer.  The incident stemmed from an 8:44 am police response to 38 Old Ridgebury Road for a reported assault.

Preliminary information indicates that the subject in question, a white male in his thirties, was located in a recreational area adjacent to Old Ridgebury and Reserve Rd.  The male had a large knife in each hand.  When officers encountered the male he refused all orders to stop and drop the weapons.  At some point during the encounter the male was shot by a Danbury Police Officer.  He was treated at the scene and then transported by ambulance to the hospital.  His condition is unknown at this time, but he was conscious and speaking at the incident scene.  No police officers were injured.

Per state and Danbury Police Department policy, the investigation is being conducted by the CT State Police is being overseeing by the Danbury State’s Attorney office.
