CT DMV and the CT Police Chiefs Association Sponsor Blue Envelope Program

The CT DMV and the CT Police Chiefs Association sponsor “the blue envelope” which was designed to enhance communication between the police and a person on the autism spectrum.

The purpose of this envelope is to have the driver place their insurance card, registration and driver license in it, so they can hand it to the officer during a traffic stop. On the outside of the envelope are helpful tips and instructions on how the driver and officer can successfully communicate with each other.

If you’d like to get one of these envelopes for you or your family, we have some in the lobby at the front window of Police HQ or you can pick one up at your local DMV. We also have green envelopes for the deaf/hard of hearing driver.
