This Week in the City, Mayor Dean Esposito is joined by Danbury Fire Department Chief Richard Thode to discuss the Danbury Fire Department.
It’s a time of growth and expansion at the Danbury Fire Department. The Fire Department recently received $1.8 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds which it used to purchase a new ladder truck. The Department has six new recruits who are joining the team, new technology to assist with regional communications, and upgrades to the Region 5 Hazmat Truck so that Danbury can continue to be a leader in emergency response in Northwestern Connecticut.
Mayor Esposito also wants to recognize Chief Richard Thode for being named Firehouse Magazine’s Grand Prize Winner of the Michael O. McNamee Award of Valor. His heroic efforts during a trench rescue in Bethel saved a life and demonstrated how he goes above and beyond the call of duty every day to serve not only the residents of Danbury, but our surrounding communities.
The Fire Department, along with our first responders and police officers, exemplify Mayor Esposito's commitment to providing Danbury's residents with superior public safety.
