City of Danbury Partners with USB to Help Federal Workers During Government Shutdown

Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton has announced a new initiative to help federal workers during the government shutdown. "Union Savings Bank will be giving interest-free loans to those impacted, and the City of Danbury will be leading a food and gas card drive," says Boughton.

"While Washington is broken, the City of Danbury works," says Boughton.

Residents of Danbury are invited to drop off food or gas cards at any USB branch. Click here for a list of locations.

In addition, USB will offer loans to federal workers impacted by the shutdown. CEO and President of USB Cindy Merkle explains, "All they did to do is to reach out to one of our branches or our call center and provide two previous pay stubs and we will get cash to them up to five pay cycles." Please note: there will be a credit check.

If you need assistance, please call USB Customer Service Center at 866.872.1866 or visit your local branch. Click here for a list of local USB branches.
