Caterina LaBarbera, 95, has Died

Caterina LaBarbera, 95, of Danbury, peacefully went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 surrounded by her family. She was was reunited with her beloved late husband, Francesco LaBarbera.

Mrs. LaBarbera was born in Altofonte, Sicily, Italy, July 19, 1924, a daughter of Salvatore and Anna (Marfia) Sciacchitano. 
She immigrated to the United States in 1957 from Italy, settling in Danbury and was employed with the American Radionics Company of Danbury.
 
Mrs. LaBarbera enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting and spending time with her loving family. Her infectious smile would light up the room, especially when her grandchildren and great grandchildren would come to visit.
 
She was a member of St. Peter Church of Danbury.
 
She is survived by her son, Salvatore “Sal” LaBarbera of Danbury and her three daughters, Connie Schlemmer and her husband Philip of New Milford, Anna Maria Weber and her husband Dale of Middlebury and Janet Miles and her husband Gino also of New Milford; 8 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews both in the US and abroad.
 
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. LaBarbera was predeceased by a great granddaughter, Stephanie Rembert, a brother, Gaetano Sciacchitano and by a sister, Vincenza Bentivegna.
 
Donations may be made in Caterina’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or St Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
Due to the ongoing health emergency, there will be no calling hours. Burial will take place in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.  There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter Church, 121 Main St., Danbury in the future when conditions improve and gatherings are once again permitted.
