Department of Veterans Affairs Stand Down in Danbury on September 23

The Department of Veterans Affairs will hold its annual Stand Down on September 23rd at five regional in-person resource access sites across Connecticut. All veterans and currently serving National Guard, Reserve and Active Duty personnel are eligible to attend Stand Down.

Stand Down 2022 hours are from 8:00am – 2:00pm at five in–person service locations throughout the State; Bridgeport: University of Bridgeport, Wheeler Recreation Center, 400 University Ave.; Bristol: Bristol Sports Armory, 61 Center Street; Danbury: Danbury War Memorial, 1 Memorial Drive; Norwich: Easter Seals Veterans Rally Point, 24 Stott Avenue; and Rocky Hill: CT DVA Rocky Hill Campus 287 West Street.

A brief speaking and Veteran Recognition Ceremony for a 103 year-old WWII, Korea and Vietnam Veteran will be held this day at 10:30am at the Rocky Hill location. (Actual birthday is 9/24/22)

These locations will be staffed by representatives of the regional Vet Centers, CT Bar Association, the DVA and many Veteran Service Organizations and community based providers to provide a variety of services including housing opportunities, legal assistance, employment programs, medical screenings, education programs personal need items, vaccinations, and meals provided by the DVA, Federal VA, Veteran Organizations, many other State & Federal agencies, and community providers.
