Why did you start your business?
I started Circus Moves because I wanted to give others the opportunity to experience the same sense of empowerment and joy that I experienced when I started practicing circus arts (at the age of 30!). Traditional sports and recreational activities never clicked for me but because circus is expressive and non-competitive and there are so many skills to work on I loved it from the start. It changed my life, and everyone - young and old- deserves the same opportunity to shine.
Finish this sentence in regard to your business: I wish I could...
I wish I could provide free services to those who really need it without always needing to think about the bottom line. Circus arts have been proven to be an evidence-based practice that promotes overall well-being in some of the most vulnerable populations (youth at risk, trauma survivors, senior citizens, etc) but unfortunately, these are often the same populations who don’t have access to leisure and recreation activities.
Do you use any local businesses to support your business?
Yes, of course, I use local businesses to support Circus Moves! We’re still growing in CT and as we do, so does our network. Let’s see…Peoples United Bank, A Common Ground Community Arts Center, Mothership, Danbury Innovation Center, Danbury Public Library, just to name a few!
