Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT REGO GEAR!

Three questions with Alex Camacho, founder of REGO GEAR.

Why did you start your business?

I love the outdoors and created Rego Gear to offer Fairfield County residents who love hiking, camping, biking, traveling, and even walking the dog an alternative to a cumbersome backpack.  I designed a lightweight front-pocket sling pack that can be worn comfortably all day providing quick access to the mobile phone, doggy snacks, and water bottle. The best part is it stays on even when upside down!

What is your best-selling product/service?

The 550 Sling Pack because it holds larger size phones!

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

Yes, I use Wells Fargo, U.S. Postal Service, Small Business Development Center, and the Daily Breed Food Pantry.

I’ve also used a few small tailor shops on Main Street for sewing purposes.

Alex would like to nominate Daily Bread Food Pantry to be featured next!
