Danbury Democratic Town Committee Endorses Diana P. Merchan to Fill City Council Vacancy

In a letter addressed to Mayor Dean Esposito, Town Clerk Jan Giegler, Council Majority Leader Warren Levy, Council Minority Leader Paul Rotello, Council President Vinny DiGilio, and Legislative Assistant Elisa Etcheto, Lawrence M. Riefberg announced the Democratic Town Committee endorsement of Diana Merchan for City Council. He said, "Please place this matter on the very next Agenda of the City Council and support our choice to fill this vacancy."

By unanimous and enthusiastic support at the March meeting of the Danbury Democratic Town Committee held last evening, Diana P. Merchan of 13 Caldwell Terrace, Danbury, CT was endorsed to fill the above vacancy. Diana grew up in Bogata, Columbia and moved to Danbury in the early 90’s.

She is currently a Spanish teacher, World Languages Diploma Coordinator and Upper School World Languages Program Lead at an independent school in Greenwich. A parishioner of St. Peter Church, Diana is married, has two children and a beautiful dog, Maggie.

Diana holds a Master of Arts Degree in Modern Languages from Central Connecticut State University and a Bachelor’s Degree from Western Connecticut State University. She was the recipient of the “Tim Russert Making A Difference Award” as a result of going above and beyond – to make a real difference in the lives of children. We are confident that Diana will continue to make real differences by her service to our community as a member of the City Council.
