Crime Continues to Drop - Danbury remains Safest City in the State

According to the Danbury Police Department’s 2019 Uniform Crime Report, major crime is down 18.5% in September from the prior month.

Crime continues to drop in Danbury as our unemployment rates remain the lowest of any major city in the state. From this January – September, crime is down over 17% from the same period last year.

“I applaud Chief Ridenhour for managing a department that focuses on community policing. Our officers are engaging with the public and continuing to protect the safety of all of our residents,” said Mayor Boughton. “I am proud to represent the safest major city in Connecticut.”

This decline in major crime comes just after Security Baron’s release of the Safest Cities in Connecticut. Out of the top 10 largest cities in CT, Danbury ranks as the overall safest and the only large city to rank in the top 50 of all towns and cities in the State.
