Ann’s Place Receives $5,000 grant from the Rotary Club of Ridgefield

Ann’s Place, a community-based cancer support center in Danbury, recently received a $5,000 grant from the Rotary Club of Ridgefield to help  provide cancer patients and their families a comprehensive set of non-medical services.

Ann’s Place provides free counseling, support groups and wellness programs to those with cancer, and their families, in our community.  Licensed clinical social workers, along with additional volunteers with advanced degrees, offer this support during and after surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatments.  Currently serving more than 950 active clients, the psychosocial support is critical to the wellness of these individuals who are going through what may be the most difficult times in their lives.

“This (Ann’s Place) is a fantastic facility both from a physical sense but more importantly from a caring sense.  One feels welcomed and cared for as soon as you walk in the door… Please keep up the good work” said Rich Vazzana, past President of the Rotary Club of Ridgefield on a recent site visit.

The Rotary Club of Ridgefield’s Community Grants are used to meet an array of needs, including special purchases and projects by local groups.  Ridgefield Rotary continues to improve the effectiveness of the Club’s charitable fundraising programs and is strengthening relationships with local organizations.

Rotary’s mission is humanitarian service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. Rotary Clubs are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds.
The Rotary Club of Ridgefield was founded in 1941. It is part of Rotary District 7980.
